Renewal of driving license
Summary of Service Flow with TEV
The renewal process is streamlined to ensure compliance with the latest Department of Land Transport (DLT) regulations:
- Initial Submission: You provide TEV with your original passport and your current Thai driving license.
- Document Preparation: TEV prepares the full 2026 renewal dossier, including:
- Certificate of Residence: Facilitating the mandatory residency letter from Thai Immigration or your Embassy.
- Medical Certificate: Arranging the required health check (valid for 30 days) at an authorized clinic.
- Application Forms: Pre-filling all DLT renewal forms in Thai.
- DLT Appointment & E-Learning:
- Appointment Booking: TEV secures a confirmed slot via the DLT Smart Queue, bypassing the long waitlists.
- E-Learning Support: TEV provides guidance on completing the mandatory DLT e-Learning video training required for 5-year license renewals.
- Final Processing: On the scheduled day, you meet your TEV agent and DLT representative at the Department of Land Transport. They provide onsite personnel support to guide you through the physical reflex tests, color blindness checks, and the final photo booth for your new card.
Renewal Requirements for 2026
- Validity: You can begin the renewal process up to 90 days before your current license expires.
- Visa Status: A valid Non-Immigrant visa is required; TEV can assist with visa extensions or changes if your current status has lapsed.
- Testing: Renewals typically do not require a new written or driving exam, provided the license has not been expired for more than one year.
